IUB holds Regional Conference on ‘Bay of Bengal as Connectivity Hub in Indo-Pacific Oceans’
To consider the feasibility of reviving this new interconnectedness and interlocution, The Centre for Bay of Bengal Studies (CBoBS) at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a two-day Regional Conference at the University’s own campus in Bashundhara to bring together policy makers from Bangladesh and the region. The Program is supported by the Embassy of Japan along with High Commission of India, BIMSTEC, The World Bank and Asian Development Bank
The inaugural ceremony of the Conference took place today on March 14, 2021 where the honorable Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, MP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Other invited guests & expert speakers of the Ceremony were, H.E. Ito Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh; H.E. Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh; H.E. Ambassador Tenzin Lekphell, Secretary General of BIMSTEC, Dhaka; Ms. Mercy Tembon, Country Director, The World Bank, Dhaka; Mr. Manmohan Parkash, Country Director, Asian Development Bank, Dhaka; Trustee A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB; and Professor Tanweer Hasan, Vice Chancellor, IUB.
Professor Milan Pagon, Pro Vice Chancellor, IUB delivered Vote of Thanks while Ambassador (Ret) Tariq Karim, Director, Center for Bay of Bengal Studies at IUB moderated the session.
Various recommendations & reports will be formed through this two-day Conference by the regional experts, researchers, scholars, diplomats & development partners that will eventually be submitted to the governments for effective implementation in securing prosperity of the region. Trustees, diplomats, dignitaries, members from the faculty & administration, students and alumni took part in the Event.
