How?  There are many different solutions when it comes to raising questions. How does this chair hold me? How can I talk on my cell phone or chat on the Internet with anyone around the world? How did this water in my glass become clear? Although the answers to each of these questions are unique, there is a common explanation for all of these questions: engineering.

The History of Special Education

No matter where you are in the world, proof of engineering is universal. Today engineers are creating solutions and modern technology for everything from smart phones to solving the world's deadliest problems.

The motivation to pursue an engineering degree can vary from student to student. For some it is the aspiration of a successful and profitable career. Others want to improve their community and bring a better future. Then there are students who pull on the field because they are naturally interested in how they work.

Your inspiration may be unique, but it is not your ambition to study engineering in the United States. Each year, more and more international students come to the United States to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral engineering degrees.

You may choose to study engineering for an economically successful career, either for humanitarian reasons or for engineering reasons, but whatever your reasoning, know that your talents are high-demand and have the potential to change your world.



Imagine if the jerseys of a football team were made of fabric capable of regularly monitoring and communicating to athletes breathing rate, heart rate and temperature coaching and training staff. Doctoral student Joseph Batta-Empouma is working to turn this concept of smart textiles and exterior surfaces from mere imagination to reality.

Batta-Empouma studied at the University of Arkansas ‘interdisciplinary microelectronics-photonics program’ and is a member of the bianotonology research group at the Institute for Nanoscience and Engineering.

Microelectronics-photonics are micro-to nano-scale materials, devices for processes and applications, including: electronic circuits and components; Sensors (electronic chemical, biological and chemical biological sensors); And light generation, detection, emission and manipulation. This research space is where science and engineering come together in traditional thematic department-based programs.

University of California – Los Angeles

Classes focus on experimental learning and small class sizes ensure one-on-one learning personalized from experienced instructors.

After completing the two-and-a-half-year program, students are awarded the FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) test and then continue to work on any aircraft in the world.

As a Certified Aviation Maintenance Technician, graduates use their transferable skills in many employment settings, such as:

  • Airlines - international, national, and/or regional
  • Air Cargo Fleets
  • Air Taxi / Charter Fleets
  • Corporate Aircraft Fleets
  • Helicopter Operators
  • Aircraft Repair Stations

The A&P certification is recognized in many other fields that are not limited to elevator repairs, equipment repairs and power companies.


Community College of Engineering students gain a solid foundation of proficiency in engineering concepts and methods using physics policy and math tools in the first two years of their undergraduate degree.

As with other engineering programs in the United States, Pierce students can specialize in their degrees in multiple fields: civil, mechanical, aeronautical, materials, electrical, computer, chemical or biomedical. The small class sizes at Pierce College allow students to receive personal attention from the outset when they complete high-level math and physics courses and courses in statics, dynamics, mechanics of physics, and thermodynamics. This is an important difference.

Often in the first or second year, students struggling with difficult engineering concepts feel lost and insecure. In a small class, instructors can quickly identify and respond to student needs.

After completing their two-year associate degree at Pierce, the students entered the university as third-year students. Graduates of Pierce College are regularly admitted to the Department of Engineering at the University of Washington, Washington State University, and other institutions in the state of Washington. International students have also been admitted to Purdue University, Rutgers University, Idaho University, Oregon University and the University of California.



"Higher education is the best in the United States - it's the highest level of education any student can get," said Ostavio Heredia, associate director of global outreach at the Fulton School of Engineering at ERA in Arizona State University. But in the case of engineering programs it provides access to research that brings many international students to the United States.

“Students are looking for great research. They want access to it. ASU opened them up to research early on, ”Heredia explained.

Arizona State University students near Phoenix don’t have to wait until their junior or senior years to start working with advanced research and development projects. The curriculum is designed so that students begin to feel and think like engineers on the first day. Foundation courses in theory are balanced with classes and projects that challenge students to think critically and creatively. The world-class faculty, including members of the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences, educates and inspires students.

The Fulton School of Engineering at Ira offers 20 engineering degree programs in computer, aerospace, electrical and biomedical. Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Post Graduate in Engineering and Doctorate degrees are available.

Outside of the classroom, students also have access to engineering-tutoring services, personalized counseling and internships. Students are interns for companies such as Boeing, Intel and General Dynamics.

Recently, Arizona State University students ’award-winning discovery made it to the U.S. finals of their Imagine Cup. Using cameras and touch-screen technology, students built a device to help visually impaired students take notes in class.
